Social Impact Report 2022

The Social Impact Report 2022 of the World Employment Confederation focuses on the issue of skills and labour shortages, demonstrating the solutions that already exist to tackle this challenge. Yet, further progress is needed to alleviate the pressure on economic growth and workers’ well-being. The Report also makes recommendations for collective action by the HR services industry, employers and governments.

Meeting demand for staff and skills has never been more important or more pressing. The World Employment Confederation’s Social Impact Report 2022 evaluates the scale of the challenge, identifies innovative approaches and creates a roadmap for future progress.

The scale of workforce and skills challenges can appear overwhelming and the challenges must be evaluated within the context of growth and other priority areas, such as the ILO’s Decent Work agenda and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

WEC’s Social Impact Report 2022 identifies practical solutions to the skills and staffing squeeze and demonstrates through case studies collected within its membership seven areas where the HR services industry is already making a difference:

Yet, further progress is needed and requires decisive and timely collective action. The Report therefore formulates recommendations for the industry itself to go further and for employers as well as for governments to play their role.
